Testimonial by Janser Chua
Before enrolling into Wayne Jones Eduhouse, i've had 2 other tuitions already. I thought this would just be another tuition centre, however, I was proven otherwise.
I was told of WJE by a friend named Dion, a student of WJE and he brought me to meet Wayne at the end of sec 3(Dec 2010), my liking for WJE grew ever since. I started lessons officially during the first week of dec 2010 with a grade of F9 for Amaths. Due to my weak foundation of sec 3 topics, i had difficulty in understanding his lessons at first, however, Wayne is a patient teacher and always have his ways of making students understand. He would provide his students with free drinks and light snacks during lessons to keep them awake to be able to continue with the lessons, he would crack jokes at really random moments that cause everyone to burst into laughter. He never fails to keep the class lively regardless of any level of students. Besides the free drinks and snacks, he also provided all his students with his "self-compiled monthly exampapers packages" and his very own A5 size Edupads for us to do his homework in. The Edupad is a no other ordinary exercise book, it gives students the motivation to do our homework which is an essential part for improving in our grades! He created formulas-inspired bookmarks to aid his students in Amaths. WayneJones Eduhouse became more of a home to me, a 3rd one if i were to consider school my 2nd. We not only study there but also we have bonding sessions at his recreational room with other students where we would play educational games to know each other and students from different schools better.
Besides all the fun, Wayne is very serious when it comes to our academic performances. He gives us complimentary tests when our exam is nearing. I'll never forget all the test given since midyears to prelims. These tests prepares us for our exam to secure at least a B. I can say i really improved to a B in mid years only after completing his tests, so to current WJE students out there reading this, please do all his tests for your own good!
One of my most memorable experience of WJE was his end of year chalet for the upper sec students! You can never find a chalet which is so well prepared from head to toe, meaning the food, beverages, games, music etc and the best part is that it's free of charge! Now that i've graduated from WJE(2011), i'm proud to say that i've gotten an A1 for both my maths for O'levels, an improvement from F9-A1 for Amaths. I'm not the only student Wayne had made to achieve great improvements and distinctions, my other peers that attended tuition with me earned their distinction for both maths or at least a B3! He is a truly amazing teacher that inspires student to do well, I'm really grateful to him and thankful to be his student. ~Janser Chua
What i remembered of Janser:
My first impression of Janser was "Could he be another joker who would be disruptive to the class?" I was quite apprehensive initially at how Janser could be serious to his learning of Amaths. It turned out that Janser was participating constructively in lessons, and in a way benefitted students in the same class. Challenging fortnightly "Killer" Amaths tests were prepared to stretch their potential in Amaths, Janser and another student named Jeremy are two "siao" (Hokkien: crazy) students who find excitement in solving the Amaths paper despite the difficulty. They would be eager to know how well they have fared for the papers. They would be happy if they could just pass the paper.
Month by Month, I saw the improvement in Janser's Amaths, and he even began to teach his friends in school. Like i always told them that it is good to teach friends, because in a way you build good karma and also "To teach is to learn twice".
Janser came to WJE early and this has given me more time to build up his foundations. His obtaining of both A1 in Mathematics is not sheer coincidence, but his willingness to step forward to seek intervention/ help early and his resilience in picking himself up and do better than the last. Even after he has graduated from WJE, i do hope that his learning experience here would help him to be more resilient to the challenges waiting for him out there. And I'm very positive he WILL!

Math is boring. Math is so confusing, these are the words students always say about math, but not at Wayne Jones Eduhouse. Before joining Wayne Jones Eduhouse my E-math was the worse grade anyone would want to get, F9 for every school year and I often hate studying for math exams. But after joining Wayne Jones just 5 months before my O Levels, my math improved greatly from a F9 to a B3!! My perspective of math changed with my learning and math became fun and interesting for me. Well, at Wayne Jones Eduhouse there will always be test and homework which enriches my learning and allow me to work on my weakness constantly. Wayne provides a relaxed learning yet you could still achieve much throughout the lessons. One can surely look forward to learning effetively at Wayne Jones Eduhouse.~ Zoe Sim
What i remembered of Zoe:
I taught Zoe's younger brother first, so her mother engaged me to help out in Zoe's Maths after seeing that her brother improved. Similar to Sijia, Zoe has weak foundations in Mathematics who didnt believe she could do Mathematics. She was failing Mathematics up to her midyear Maths Exams. She came to me after her Midyear Exams which gave me about 5 months to work with her. She is a conscientious girl who would quickly work out the sums again after i have explained the concepts. Her huge improvement in Mathematics is not without effort. She takes effort to complete every piece of work i give, and took the initiative to complete the mock exams given to her.

"Before I discovered WJE, I was always getting a F9 for my Elementary Mathematics.
For my C. Science, I was always a borderline pass, nothing above a C.
Just 3 months before my GCE ‘O’ Level, I decided to join WJE.
I thought that Wayne wouldn’t be able to help pull my grades up, but he sure proved me wrong.
I managed to jump 6 grades up for my E.Math and scored a B3!!!
As for my C.Science, I managed to score a B3 as well!
What is so great about WJE is that Wayne is not just an ordinary tutor; he puts in the extra effort to make sure all his students are able to cope well by printing Edubites, and setting test papers for us every alternate week.
Just weeks before our GCE ‘O’ Level, he even planned a Mock ‘O’ Level Examination for us to know our own standard & to set the studying mood in place.
Wayne is more than a tutor to all of us; he is like our role model, an inspiration to all.
All in all, I am extremely grateful to have chosen Wayne Jones Eduhouse!" ~ SiJia
What i remembered of Sijia:
Sijia was in my E.Maths class. She was extremely weak in Mathematics, probably one of the extreme cases i have encountered in my teaching career. Her foundation in Maths was terribly shaky. During the first lesson, I knew why she was desperate to seek help in Mathematics. At her standard, she couldn't possibly even get an E8, not to mention getting a pass. She couldn't manipulate the equations around to solve for X. She confessed she hasn't been passing her Mathematics her whole secondary school major exams. She came in July and i was only given 3 months to work with her. As Sijia was weak in her algebras, i put her in my secondary two Maths Class, it was complimentary for her. She swallowed her pride that she has to be in the same class as some of her juniors from her school. She put in her effort to attend every lesson and did the work given to her. Besides this, she is one of the few students who took the initiative to complete the mock exams prepared for them without any reminders from me. By prelims in September, she was already getting a C6 in school. Slowly, she built up confidence in Maths.
On the day of release of O level results, i paid a surprise visit to her school to visit her and other students from the same school. When she received her result, she came up to me with 2 parallel lines of tears of joy rolling down her cheeks. She was in a disbelief that she has gotten a B3 for Mathematics! I was extremely happy for her.
Maybe B3 may not be a huge achievement to many people, but i felt her B3 was as good as an A1 to her. Her Maths results was a juxtapose to the flashbacks of the first lesson with her in my mind. This was a student who once didn't believe she has the capability to pass Mathematics. I was touched by her positive attitude to learn and to excel.

"I started to have my tuition at Wayne 2.5 months before the actual O lvl . The mid-year examination held on the August was a wake up call for me when I earned a F9 for amath . I still remember clearly that during my interview , Wayne's face went terribly shocked when i told him that i couldn't do a simple inverse matrix and yet i was already that close to O lvl . Yes , it was indeed a last minute decision but I never regretted it . Throughout my tuition , i sometimes asked basic questions that could trigger laughter in the class , but Wayne is a calm and patient teacher who wouldn't ignore my questions . Furthermore , he recognize each of my improvement . Like how i improved from F9(mid year) to D7(2nd prelim) and 1/25 to 10/25 for his ''killer'' test . '' It was 1000% improvement'' , i still remember what he told me (: . Wayne to me is beyond a teacher, like a friend. i felt very comfortable learning from him and voice out my opinion. In the very end , I am very happy that I cleared the O's with a A2 for my A math . Truly , without Wayne's consistent help , i wouldn't able to gain such wonderful results."
What I remembered of Toni:
Toni could be an inspiring student to many people who gave up on Amaths long ago, and also to people who would not believe they could actually do Amaths. During the first meet-up, Toni did gave me a shock when he said he has problem with Inverse Matrix (which is one of the easiest topics in Amaths!) However, i told him all i need is 15 minutes to make him understand it. It was like after he found that topic so easy, it kind of unlocked the deadlock of Amaths in him. And adding to the fact that Toni has a strong foundation in Mathematics, his pace of learning Amaths was phenomenal. I had only about 10 weeks to work with him before his O levels. That was indeed a challenging task. Toni has an acumen for details, perhaps of the love of Photography, every week when tricks and techniques on solving certain questions were imparted, he would learn them well. We are talking about a student who once never knew he has the great potential for Amaths and was waiting for that one chance to unleash it, which he made it in the end with distinctions for both Mathematics.

"I started to enroll myself in the Wayne Jones tuition at the start of 2010, joining the Additional Mathematics class. Considering that I failed Mathematics in Secondary 1, and that I attained average grades for Mathematics in Secondary 2, I didn’t think I would be able to meet the hectic demands of Additional Mathematics. I joined the Physics class later on in mid 2010, after getting a D7 grade for my Physics midyear examination. Physics used to be the subject I loathed the most, because I had difficulties understanding the concepts in class and I even had thoughts of dropping the subject by the end of Secondary 3.
My decision to join both classes turned out to be a wise decision after all, because Wayne Jones is certainly not an ordinary tutor. What I loved most about his teaching techniques were his concise and succinct notes which he called the ‘Edubites’. For the Additional Mathematics Edubites , all the topics were broken down further into sub-topics which include different patterns for questions that have appeared in the O Level examinations. He discussed them and taught us different tricks in answering them, which I found very useful and easy to understand. He even used other learning methods such as the ‘sum-ba proca’ (which are the addition and multiplication formulae for roots of a quadratic equation) and also listing a set of standard steps to solve certain questions (which he kept repeating all the time during lessons so that we do not forget). He also emphasized on the importance of memorizing certain formulae that were frequently required, so as to save us from the hassle of searching for suitable formulae to use from the given formulae sheet. These were very valuable because they were certainly not taught in school.
For Physics, he laid down the important points in bullet points, so that students need not read the lengthy paragraphs in textbook. In between the notes, he also puts in a few examples that further explain the points, unlike teachers in school who choose to teach all the pointers first, before moving on to examples and questions. Through that, he managed to keep us on the right track so that we do not get easily confused as to how we would if things were just spoon-fed to us at one go.
Apart from the notes, he even set test papers for us that required us to spend extra time at the Eduhouse to finish them. Although students may grumble, I found that the tests were very useful as it certainly did help me in revising certain topics that were taught a long time ago so that we would not forget them. In school, we didn’t usually get to revise the topics that were previously taught because teachers had to rush the syllabus before we sit for our prelims. By then, it would be a little late for revision.
All of the effort he had put in for his students came to fruition when eventually I attained an A1 for both Elementary and Additional Mathematics, and an A2 for Physics. Thank you Wayne Jones Eduhouse because I wouldn’t be able to achieve such grades without Wayne’s help. " ~ Ermanda
What I remembered of Ermanda:
Ermanda came to WJE through the referral of his friends. I gave him a trial lesson on "Solving Cubic Equations" when i could afford some time back then. Eventually he signed up for our Maths Program. Ermanda's command of Mathematics needed more attention as he would make careless mistakes when manipulating the equations around. Despite his weak foundations in lower secondary, he attempted to work harder, and complete most of the work given to him. His obtaining of A1 for both Mathematics in O levels is not without effort, but because of his resilience and his "never-say-die" attitude in Mathematics. Ermanda really takes pride in his work, if you have ever have the privilege to see his homework or paper, you would agree with me that his presentation of Mathematics workings is second to none, and it was really pleasant to mark his papers. For that, it was no surprise that Ermanda also got Top in Mathematics for his School's Prelims.

"I joined Wayne's lesson since March 2011 because my Amath grade was F9, and no matter how hard i try, i couldn't improve, so by chance i was able to know of his tuition center.
At first, i couldn't catch up with most of his students and was failing his extremely hard tests, however that kept me more motivated and strived for better grades, which eventually enable me to get better grades. After seeing my improvement, i had the confidence for having him to tutor me for my Combined science which was failing too.
His teaching method was unique which he will find ways to make students memorize facts easily, which are ways you will never think of!
Eventually both my amath and science miraculously improved and i scored A2 for amath and B3 for science. And bettering it off with A2 for Emaths too. I'm very grateful for his teaching which has enabled me to stay motivated!" ~Terence Seng
What I rememberd of Terence:
A slim build guy who blushes like a red tomato at the slightest thing, that is what i remembered of him every lesson. He never fails to complete his homework given to him. Perhaps you could call him a late bloomer, he wasn't academically inclined during his primary school, and got into Normal Technical Stream during Secondary One. He persevered, did well for Secondary one and was promoted to Normal Academic, and was given a chance to sit through to the O levels. He did his E.maths O levels at Sec 4, scoring a B3.
Through his friend, he got to know about Wayne Jones Eduhouse, and contacted me. There he was quiet during our first meet-up when i interviewed him. And after a few questions, he confessed that he wasn't doing well for A.maths in school and was desperate looking for help. "How could i reject a student who has the perseverance in his eyes telling me that he wants to own A.maths" i told myself.
Terence knew he was at the back of the pack at the first lesson, when the other students were working out the sums very quickly after i have explained a few sums on the board. But he was not affected, he knew he started late so has to work even harder. For every Mock tests i gave, Terence is one of the few students who took the initiative to drop by WJE and have it completed. He would be very interested to know how well he has scored. Week by week, Terence caught up with most of the pack.
As the story goes, hard work pays off, he scored A2 for his A.maths, and even bettering it off with an A2 for his Emaths.
This is a story of a student who started off from Normal Technical and got distinctions for both Maths. A role model for many.
I have had the pleasure of working with this spectacular guy.

"Before joining Wayne Jones, my grades for Elementary Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Physics and Combined chemistry was B3, F9, F9 and B3 respectively. I was with WJE for 6 months and I got A1 for Elementary math, B3 for Add math, A2 for Physics and A1 for combined science for my ‘O’ levels.
Wayne has an art of conveying the message to his students. He explains the concepts with clear, detailed, step-by-step explanations. This has allowed me to understand quickly and apply the new knowledge.
Wayne Jones provides clear notes, formulas bookmarks (very useful!), exercises and trial exam papers, which allowed me to have more practices and spot the typical exam questions. He has his own way of making me remember the formulas. The weekly tests given by Wayne also enabled me to constantly assess my progress and hence, make more improvements.
Wayne has made a great impact in my life and he makes learning so much more enjoyable and interesting. I am very grateful to him and I am lucky to have met such a great teacher.~Jamie Lim"
What i remembered of Jaime:
Jamie came to WJE through the referral of her friend. She is a presentable lady without slight air of arrogance. She likes green. At the first meet up, Jaime told me she couldn't cope with Amaths and Physics, and she actually failed her Sec 3 Final Year exams for these two subjects. However, she said she was willing to put in effort. I thought she couldn't be serious. Jamie was put into my special Amaths class, which instead of the usual 2 hours, it became 2.5 hours, so as to allow me to explain the concepts slowly and in detail. She also requested to attend the Secondary 3 Amaths class to brush up her basics. It is complimentary for Sec 4 students. Jamie did most of the work given to her, considering the fact that she was in three classes with me- Maths, Physics and Comb Science. She attempted the fortnightly tests without grudges, this has allowed me to provide feedbacks to help her better in her studies. Jamie is humble in her achievements and is never arrogant. That's what i admire about her, and i'm truly happy to have worked with her for "O" levels.
Testimonial by Jeremy Lee
"To me, WJE is not just an average tuition centre, it feels more like home. Not only were the teaching facilities great, the teaching was of course, great too! Instead of having a negative mindset about tuition being a chore (not to mention a waste of money), I thoroughly enjoyed learning through out Wayne's lessons. Wayne not only considered me as a student; we were thick as thieves, close as brothers. There's a saying, "一日为师,终身为父." (Lit: Once a mentor, a mentor for life) If someone were to ask me to describe our relationship, the first answer I would give is this. That said, you can probably understand how grateful I am for his devotion to teaching and his belief in my ability." ~Jeremy Lee
What i remembered of him:
Jeremy came to WJE after his midyear exams when he was secondary two. He failed his midyear Exam Maths scoring a 30+. At the end of the year, he scored above 85% and was awarded the best progress award for his huge improvement in Mathematics.
Jeremy continued with WJE for Secondary 3 and 4. And since then, his Maths grade never fall below an A1. As expected, he scored A1 for both Elementary Mathematics and Additional Mathematics, an amazing feat for a student who used to fail Secondary 2 Maths, but his success is not by chance and not without effort. He deserved them. Jeremy never fails to intrigue me with the questions he asked. He was attentive during lessons, he likes to learn more and takes the initiative to do more questions than required.
