Building a house

Learning is like building a wooden house from scratch. It requires nails to hold pieces of wood together. Reinforcing concepts is like hitting the nail firmly into the wood. My job of teaching is like helping students position pieces of wood together and placing the nails properly. How firmly the nail is secured into the wood would be dependent on how many times the students are willing to nail it in. Ultimately, overtime we are building a house which would be able to withstand the tremors of earthquakes or the forces of the torrential rain. Nobody wants to live in a house feeling insecure that it might collapse anytime, akin to walking into an exam without preparing fully.

Random thoughts on a July morning

Now we are entering the busiest period of the year, The REvision Phase. All graduating classes have already started on Mock Papers. Some classes are doing on a weekly basis. This means lots and lots of markings to be done. This year, WJE has employed a team of markers to help handle the workload, because it is nearly impossible to be doing it all by myself unless i have decided not to sleep and rest. Recently I came across a book entitled "The Apple Experience" by chance, and i bought it immediately. I must admit i was truly inspired by Apple because of their spirit of innovation. So because of this, i have came out with products which will help students identify themselves with Wayne Jones Eduhouse, and refined the teaching methodologies over the years to greatly enhance their learning experience with us. Students who have been with WJE since the beginning has commented that things have indeed changed since the day they began having lessons here since 5 years ago. To upgrade myself, i have been taking Masters in Mathematics at NIE, learning Chinese Calligraphy, learning how to ride a motorcycle (i have a driving license by the way). Some of these may or may not be related to what i'm doing now, but i believe they enrich my life with more interesting stories to share with students during my teachings. I may not see how they may be related in any ways right now, but Steve Jobs once said, Go ahead and learn many things, 'cos someday somehow the dots will be connected when you looked back the past.
