Testimonial by Jorene 2014

June 2013, that was the first time I step into Wayne Jones Eduhouse. Having Wayne as my first ever tutor, I thought it would just be like any other tuition I heard from my peers, where tuition is a place where they teach ahead of school and they do not really care if you improved much or not. However, after having to join Wayne amath class for one and a half year, and also physics class for a year, I improved my results from F9 to a distinction and D7 to a distinction at olevel levels respectively. Even though I only attended Wayne's amath class, he also give us emath practice papers to do during our revision period!  Wayne, being a teacher and also a friend, is always concerned about our results and our progress in school. Also, he always had his lessons planned ahead and his lessons isn't about the duration but about what we have to complete. As long as we finish what we are suppose to do, he would let us have our free time to continue with our homework or even let us off earlier knowing that we already endured one whole day of school. WJE is also a very conducive place for us to study. During exam periods, he would open up the place for us so that we can go up and study, and always be there to help us when we face problems. Wayne also put in a lot effort in preparing the materials for his students like creating a conducive place to attend lessons, the bookmarks which consist of all the formula (it's very useful!) and creating test for his students to do after every lesson. Also, he created "hunger games" which is a full paper test at WJE where it helps us find out our standards across the class before taking olevels. My experience at WJE was definitely a great and enjoyable one, and I'm sure it left a deep impression for all the students who attended WJE before. Lastly, I would like to say, thankyou Wayne! (:

This is the stereotypical vision of a tuition lesson; a room full of tired and unmotivated students struggling to complete their homework. My friends too always gave many negative feedbacks about tuition, saying that it was ineffective or too stressful, but WJE is clearly the opposite. Instead of the studying in a typical tense classroom environment, WJE has been set up in a way that makes it look homely and lively. And fortunately, Wayne is a very motivated teacher that tries to incorporate jokes into his daily lessons, making his lessons more enjoyable! In addition to that, Wayne understands that we students have a lot of school homework or activities to do; hence he tries to give us a reasonable amount of homework each week. Furthermore, instead of just bombarding us with difficult questions that could blow your mind, Wayne would first take the time to explain the question in detail, show us the first few steps and let us complete the rest. In all honesty, I was one of those students that were not diligent enough to practice at home. I had hated studying very much hence I had a weak foundation; which would explain the constant E8 or D7 grades I had in Amaths and Physics. But, after joining WJE, I had slowly found myself coming to enjoy attempting the difficult maths questions! Sometimes, I even looked forward to attempting the weekly maths test! I am pretty sure this was the reason why I was able to achieve A1s for both Amath and Emaths, and an A2 for physics for the GCE ‘O’ levels! Thank you Wayne!

I’ve always thought that Amaths wasn’t important. So what if I failed? I’ll just go to poly. That was what I always thought until I stepped into Wayne Jones Eduhouse. Wayne, upon hearing this, encouraged me to go for JC, guaranteeing that he could pull my F9 in Amaths and D7 in Physics to a decent B3. I joined WJE at the beginning of my sec4 year, not knowing any of my fundamentals in both Amaths and Physics. Wayne conducts interactive lessons and they were often engaging and enjoyable. He prepares his own notes known as ‘edubites’ for us to enable us to absorb the topics easily. He also sets weekly tests for us to help us gauge our standards, and instead of spoonfeeding us with answers, he will explain how to solve the questions and let us solve them ourselves. Wayne does not hesitate to help us when we are in doubt, and is indeed very dedicated to his job. Under his guidance, I got A1 for both A and Emaths and an A2 in Physics, and my mindset of going to poly has changed drastically. The Wayne Jones experience has also increased my liking for both Maths and Physics and to me, they are no longer viewed as a burden, but instead, a challenge for me to take on.

Math used to be an ordinary subject to me, and i was obtaining the average pass of between C5 - B4 for my final year in secondary 3. My friends then introduced me to WJE at the start of sec 4, in which i thought why not since i wanted to improve and maintain my grades for math. I entered WJE with the mindset of it being alike any other tuition centre, however, i was wrong. WJE provided a conducive environment for learning with decorated walls and furniture, bringing forth a cozy feel. The lessons taught by Wayne are really fast paced with detailed explanation and guidance, thus within a short span of 2hours, he is able to cover a wide range of topics. This is also the reason why you will not catch anyone dozing off as they have to be paying full attention. His lessons are also well planned and segmented for each term in secondary school, always preparing the necessary materials and giving us necessary tips in order to score well for our exams. It gives students the edge in school as they learn topics ahead of school curriculum, and thus are able to revise more for their exams. The teaching system Wayne has adopted is effective, allowing many of his students to attain distinctions in their exams, and for me, a double distinction(A1) for both my O-level mathematics. And on top of all the teaching of Wayne, he also entertains and tries to communicate with us, making the entire Wayne Jones experience much more enjoyable. I'd like to thank Wayne for all the help he has provided me with for the past year. :')

I joined WJE in December 2013 and never once have I regretted joining. Prior to joining WJE, i had been struggling to keep up with my peers in A Maths and Physics at school and was only able to barely pass these subjects in tests and exams with a grade of C6. After attending Wayne’s weekly lessons in A maths and Physics, I have undoubtedly improved drastically for both of them. I was able to be ahead most of my peers in school and do decently well in my schools prelims and tests. Lessons are always fulfilling and productive as Wayne ensures that time is never wasted during lessons and that we will always be learning something new. Whenever we had doubts during lessons, Wayne would always clarify with us until we understood. In WJE, we completed the ‘O’ Level syllabus ahead in advance, giving us ample time to revise for the ‘O’ Levels. Even though I had only signed up for the A Maths Tuition, we were also given practice for E Maths from time to time as Wayne feared we would neglect the latter. The weekly tests and homework were sufficient as practice and revision for me and that gave me more time to focus on my other subjects. During school holidays, WJE organises free extra activities such as Korean cooking class and Korean basic language class to provide students a chance to relax and have fun. Tuition centres such as WJE which go an extra mile for their students are few and far between and I highly recommend fellow students to join it. I attained an A1 for Physics, A Maths and E Maths for my ‘O’ Levels. Lim Ruixiong, Yishun Town Secondary School

Maths was never my forte. My results had never reached A, not until I joined Wayne Jones Eduhouse in sec3. Wayne taught us the topics before our school does, so I could always understand in class. He made sure we do our homework and have weekly tests to make sure we understand the whole topic. He never spoon-feeds us with answers and would have us practice questions to improve. He would ensure that we understand how the question is being answered so we would not stumble over similar questions in the future. From getting Bs or Cs and even failing at times, I was scoring good results for my tests. Joining WJE had helped me to achieve double distinctions in E and A Math for GCE O levels. From someone who really hated Math, I became someone who looked forward to every math lesson. At WJE, it is not your typical tuition centres where you just sit down and do practices. Wayne made sure to include fun in our lessons, and even organise complementary lessons and parties to make us feel more at home. I guarantee an enriching and fun experience at Wayne Jones Eduhouse! It was a tense week in June, respective teachers. My results were far from satisfying, with my Additional Mathematics (A Maths) below an F9 and my Pure Physics scoring an exact E8. I knew, from then on that time was running short with only a mere 4 months to O-Levels. I had heard of Wayne’s classes via word of mouth from my classmates and I realized that they were showing consistent improvement since their enrolment at the start of the year. Thus, I decided when I had just received my Mid-Year Examination (MYE) results back from my to give Wayne Jones Eduhouse (WJE) a shot. When I met up with Wayne regarding my enrolment into his classes, he told me that with hard work and effective studying, achieving an A for both subjects was still possible. I believed what he said and attended all of his classes from June to the week just before O-Levels. I liked it that at WJE we had tests on the previous week’s work after lessons to help us evaluate how much we had really absorbed. Although I had signed up for A Math and Physics classes only, Wayne also offered to help us in Elementary Mathematics (E Maths) by giving us practice and drilling us with harder questions. Wayne also constantly makes use of hand-drawn diagrams to make it simpler to understand concepts in Physics, which had helped me a lot. Prior to the O-Levels, Wayne would organize mock examinations for us and creatively term them “W-Levels” and he would give us words of encouragement for the last lap to the end. I was really thrilled when I received my results this year and I immediately told Wayne I scored A1 for E Maths and A2s for Pure Physics and A Maths. I had enjoyed myself, as well as learnt much during my time in WJE and I will be enrolling for H2 Math classes in WJE this year. Joshua Goh, Yishun Town Secondary School

Before i joined Wayne Jones Eduhouse (WJE) in 2013,I was struggling with some of the concepts of Amaths, especially with trigonometry. For most of my Amaths test, i scored badly with a c5. I also joined the physics class in 2014 when i felt that my physics was starting to lag behind my classmates. Every week at WJE, we spend half the time recapping the previous topics and reinforcing our understanding of the topics, and the other half of the time learning a new topic and doing practice questions. During class, Wayne would explain the questions and concepts such that its easily understandable. Wayne finished covering the syllables early, leaving us with time for revision. In addition to Amaths, we were given Emaths practice as well, which were to be done in our free time, either in class or at home, fully utilizing our time at WJE. i received A1s for Amaths, Emaths and physics for the o'levels. I really like the air-conditioned room in which we get to study as its usually hot in Singapore and also the tests after class which serve as a further recap of what was learnt the week before. Furthermore, with Wayne walking around during lessons, doubts and questions can be immediately cleared during class time. Jeremy Pong, Yishun Town Secondary School

'Having Amath lessons from a private tutor in Secondary 3, my grades were still in the Bs and Cs range. Hence, introduced by my friends, I joined Wayne Jones Eduhouse. I would never regret that decision I've made as it made me improve in lightning speed, and I managed to clinch all the A1s for Amath throughout my year in Secondary 4, and even in 'O' Levels! I am so thankful for everything that was provided- the edubites, revision packages, the brain-wrecking tests that pushed us further and the condusive environment to help us concentrate even better. At times when we get stressed up, there would always be little talks and jokes to lighten up the mood and sweet treats to keep us going, giving us the strength to persevere. Wayne had really been a great help to most of us and I would like to say that I am really lucky to be one of those that was introduced to join Wayne Jones Eduhouse! Testimonial by an ex-Aiss Student 2014

Being a student in Wayne Jones Eduhouse has been such a privilege for me. Initially, A Maths was tough and challenging for me. The rumours that i heard in lower secondary regarding the difficulty of A Maths had turned out to be true when i first took it in secondary 3. This was evident as i received an F9 grade in my report card after SA1. Despite that huge disappointment and downfall, i did not give up. I put in the effort and brought back home a B4 for my end of year exams in sec 3. The following year i remained determined to excel in my A Maths and aimed to achieve a distinction for my o levels. Around some time in February, I had heard that some of the students who were scoring very well in my class for A Maths had been taking tuition lessons from some place in Yishun called Wayne Jones Edu. I was keen on finding out more about this place so i had one of my friends to introduce me to a man named Wayne and thus began my first of many lessons in WJE. At first it was slightly difficult for me to cope with the lessons as i came in early March and thus, had missed out on some important lessons. But in due time, it all went well. Soon came my Mid-year examinations and i am very glad to say that the A1 grade i received for my Mid-year would not have been possible without the help from Wayne. I figured that the reason why i had improved tremendously is because of the way how Wayne teaches. His lessons are very clear to understand and easy to grasp. At the end of the day, i understood the topic taught much better than when my teachers had taught it to me in school. Some things that facilitated my learning my learning in WJE would be the air-conditioned rooms that allow the students to concentrate more and to be at ease. Also, the interior of WJE has nice features such as the brick wall and the really cool looking floor. All these features improved the environment that we learn in making it suitable for studies. After another half a year of struggle and hardship, i finally graduated from my school with with an A2 grade for A Maths. Who knows? Maybe if i had joined in since sec 3, i might have gotten an A1 for A Maths in o level. In conclusion, WJE is definitely a place for students who are keen on putting in the effort to improve their A Maths and to ultimately score a distinction for it in o levels. I used to be a straight F9 student for amath, and the teachers in school would always advise me to drop the subject. I was on the verge of dropping it, until i found wje. i joined the class mid term in sec 3, and by then the class had already covered a lot of topics and i was seriously lagging behind. However, wayne patiently coached me through every lesson, making sure that i was catching up well. After a month, my results improved and i finally passed amath.

what i feel that is unique about wayne as compared to other tutors out there, is that no other tutor would be as down to earth, as patient and as committed to his students as wayne is to us. his dedication, the tremendous amount of effort he puts into creating tests for us every week and compiling notes for us for every chapter, and his willingness to go the extra mile to make sure students really understood what he is teaching makes him the BEST tutor i have ever had. His constant encouragement and him constantly pushing his students to do their best really motivated us to work even hard as you could see that wayne genuinely wanted us to do well.

His coaching and explanations are also crisp and clear, which enable students to grasp concepts easily and the mini tests every week really help students to make sure that they thoroughly understand what is being taught to them during the lesson. I have always disliked math and thought that it was the most difficult subject ever, but wayne showed me that learning math could be so much fun and math isn't so hard after all. So after all these years of hating math, i can now proudly say that because of going to wje, i like math.

From F9 to an A2 in my O's, I am truly grateful and thankful to wayne for everything he has done for me and choosing to go to wayne's is probably the best decision i have made. With wayne's teaching and yourself putting in consistent effort and hard work, achieving a distinction at the end of the day isn't as impossible as you think it seems. :-)
