Testimonial by Jia Chek 2015

When I was in Secondary 3, I was struggling really hard with my A Maths and had scored an F9 for my MYE. I felt really hopeless as I was way behind my class and didn’t even understand many things that were taught. I wanted to have tuition in hope that I could just get a pass for my A Maths. So my sister (student of WJE) asked me to give it a try at WJE which I eventually did. My first impression of WJE is that it is unlike other tuition centres. I have never been to a tuition that is so well furnished and uses a blackboard to teach. A really unique place to learn! The materials and notes given to us were great. Wayne even gave us bookmarks with formulas and a WJE exercise book to assist us in our learning. Wayne is able to reach out to every student and make sure that nobody is ever left behind. His classes are entertaining and very efficient. Finally, I managed to get a borderline pass for my EOY exams in Sec 3. In Sec 4, preparations for the O Levels were early. We did practice papers weekly and the workload was evenly distributed throughout the period. Hence, I am not really stressed out and worried for my A Math paper. Wayne even took extra effort to give some tips and practice for our E Maths so that we will do well for both of the subjects. In the end for my O Levels, I have gotten A1 for both A Maths and E Maths. Thank you WJE! :)

I gotten F9 for Amaths before joining waynejones and began lessons in december 2014 which helped me achieve an A1 for O levels. The W.O.D given every lesson helps me reinforce what i have learned and get used to how differently questions can be asked. It allowed myself to gain more confidence as i learned more through the mistakes made. I personally enjoyed the snacks provided for lessons and how helpful the teachers are. For prospective students,i'm confident that you will do well with the help of WJE

I started attending Wayne Jones when I was Sec 3 because I wasn't really strong at my math when I was in Sec 1& 2 . I honestly thought that his tuition classes would be those typical ones where they spam practice papers and just let us practice practice and practice without understanding, however I was wrong. Wayne always provided us with clear and detailed explanations and explain to us the logic behind each step when he teaches ! Even though I only signed up for his amath class , he also wanted us to do well in our emath and even provided extra notes and tuition classes for emath before our olevels. Thanks to Wayne I achieved an A1 for my amath and emath ! (:

I joined WJE for two year and it's definitely a wonderful experience! Before joining,I had been scoring a C6/D7 for my physics and B for my Amaths in school but in just a year I manage to get a consistent A1 for my maths and improve to a B3 for my physics in prelims. At WJE, there is a conducive environment for us to study and Wayne would constantly help us improve by pushing us to achieve better results. He is not only straight forward and strict with us so that we would provide and give the most complete answer to get the maximum number of marks in exams, he also crack jokes with us to let us relax and not be too stressed. At Wayne jones, we are always given a test after each lesson to test us if we truly understands about a certain topic and this is a great way for him to know what we are weak at and of course for us to work harder on that topic. Before olevels, Wayne gave us very useful and concise notes that helps me to have a very last look before I enter the exam hall. With all the help by Wayne and my hard work, I manage to achieve A1 for my Amaths, and A2 for my physics in the GCE olevels exam :) Lastly, I would like to Thank Wayne for letting me feel that my hard work does pay off by helping me and providing me with support to achieve such wonderful results in the Olevel! :)

i joined WJE when i was secondary 4 and joining WJE had helped improve my grades greatly. my mathematics results were inconsistent in secondary 3 but after joining WJE, my grades became more stable and i was getting As for my mathematics examinations. in my o’level examinations, i scored A2 for E.maths and A1 for my A.maths. wayne is a very dedicated teacher and he is always well prepared for lessons. his notes always gives a detailed summary and are conducive. what i personally like is that wayne gives us tests and it definitely helps me to recap the different formulas and practice on what i have learned. the tests also helps me to find out the chapters that i am weaker in. WJE also allows the students to study in a cosy and comfortable environment. overall, i have definitely enjoyed my time spent in WJE and i am really thankful to wayne for his guidance and support.

Testimonial by Le Hai Son 2015

This may seem like your typical "zero to hero" testimonial but no, it’s more than that. Don’t wait for miracles to happen, make them. That’s my greatest take back after spending my Secondary 4 year learning from Wayne. By the end of Secondary 3, I was unmotivated and stressed out after a full year trying to keep my neck above water for A Maths and Physics yet I still flunked. My grades? F9s. Frankly, although I needed help, I was skeptical about getting tuition based on my past experiences. After hearing about a “miracle” tutor from a senior in a similar plight to mine and having no grades to lose further, I went for the trial lesson. "Attitude determines altitude” hung on the wall. The eduhouse was well decorated, adequately lit, regularly maintained and the atmosphere was both cosy and homely. Unlike previous tuition centres, I was immediately at ease. But don’t be deceived, Wayne does math at an uneasy pace. At first, I was lagged behind terribly which was the depressing thing about learning A Maths. Then did I discover that Wayne was more than just my tutor, he was my motivator and moreover, my friend. Under his watchful eye, we worked on my “homework” ethics. Before, I would get frustrated and give up after tumbling over a difficult question, hence I never enjoyed practices nor finished my homework. Wayne always emphasised on a positive outlook to our problems. It wasn’t long that Wayne’s infectious positivity and enthusiasm spread to me. I started to look at Maths and Physics in a different light. Practice after practice, question after question, I climbed grade after grade. Secondary 4 MYE, I passed all my subjects for the first time since Secondary 2. Don’t stop there! The final lap towards O levels no doubt was an intense and compact one. I realised that I began looking forward to Wayne’s classes. Bit by bit, I finished the syllabus, my prelims and then Wayne’s coveted Hunger Games! (WJE reference sorry). Finally, by the time it was O levels, I was numbed with practices. No doubt it was stressful but thankfully Math and Physics were no longer as tough as I once feared it to be. Finally, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I scored a decent B3 for Physics and A2 for both Maths! Although it isn’t your perfect A1s, I’m very satisfied with the improvement made both to my studies and my attitude :) Thank you Wayne!

My math grades have always been inconsistent while my physics grade falls within the C6-C5 range. Until I joined Wayne Jones in 2013, my Maths improved a lot. I scored distinctions for physics, a Maths and emaths for olevel. Every week, there is a test after each lesson to test on the topic taught the week before. Wayne always Ensure that each of his students understand the concepts of each topic and completed their homework every lesson. He is always willing to provide extra classes and notes which I personally think is much better than the school textbook and notes given by the School. The classes are conducted in an air-conditioned and clean environment. Overall, I think Wayne jones has helped me to become an independent learner, not only in grades.

My 2 years in wayne jones eduhouse was a fruitful one as materials/notes provided such as the bookmarks were useful. Located near the MRT station, the eduhouse is easily accessible and convenient. Not only that, Wayne is straightforward and clear with his teaching methods which are easily understandable by many. Also, with the weekly tests, I was able to recap and revise for the various topics that I've learnt in the previous lessons. Thus, I was able to consistently score well in school and ultimately I attained distinctions for both my Mathematics.

Joined WJE Amath during December 2013 before actually learning it in school. I thought Amath was hard as my teacher said that my Emath results (B3) meant that I may not be able to do well for Amath when I go to sec 3. Therefore I thought that Amath was hard. However Wayne has made Amath very easy & fun for me and his lessons are really straight forward and super effective. Thanks to Wayne, my Amath O level result was an A1. The only time I feel that I'm actually studying and learning is when I'm at his tuition. He does not waste time and used his 2 hours efficiently and also  makes sure we understand what we had learned. I was able to understand and enjoy lessons in school and was ahead of my classmates. Wayne does not make his lessons tense and awkward, he makes jokes & shared interesting stuff or things about his life. Sometimes he treats us koi & he bought us mcdonald during his hunger games (last test) as a motivation for our O level. What is special about WJE is that it has some activities during the holidays like cooking lessons. He also has his own formula bookmarks & creative exercise books. We don't come across such tuition centre often. I have enjoyed myself in WJE and learn what I needed to know from there, thanks Wayne!

I joined WJE late in my Secondary 4 year, and it certainly was a very good decision. Every week we were pushed to our limits and were put through intensive problem solving, made to do hours of math even after school hours at WJE. But all was worth it. It stretched us to our full potential and trained our mental stamina. I was achieving Bs and Cs in both math and additional math, but starting getting stable As after joining the tuition, and finally achieved A1s for both math and additional math for my GCE 'O' levels. The materials and environment are especially notable about WJE. The place is a cosy and conducive environment and the additional materials that are provided to us nearer to the 'O' level period was helpful and abundant. Wayne is extremely passionate and creative. He always comes up with new ideas to spice up math at WJE. Always more than ready to help us and give us useful tips and different math methods. I would definitely recommend WJE if you are looking for a good math tutor.

Joining WJE improved my grades significantly, especially in the last few months of my experience. I started having lessons with WJE since the beginning of Secondary 3 and I am glad how I was always ahead of my classmates in terms of grades and understanding of topics. At the beginning of Secondary 3, my Additional Mathematics was a grade of E8 but I successfully improved to an A2 in my O'Level. My favourite thing about Wayne Jones is definitely my mentor Wayne. He pushed us to the limits and is the most passionate teacher I have ever met. He is one of the best teachers around and I am grateful to be taught by him. Thank you, Wayne.

My math has never been good, and I have been failing math since P4. Hence I found it quite miraculous when I passed math in psle with a B. Then everything went downhill from sec 1 onwards once again. Because of my 18.9/100 (F9) for math at the end of Sec 2, I was denied the chance to take pure sciences and amath, hence went on to take combined science in sec 3. In Sec 3 I realised I really needed help for math and hence joined a particular tuition for 1 year plus, but my grades seemed to remain or even deprove a little. Then I went onto Sec 4 and once again failed my Prelim 1 with a F9 and that was when I enrolled into WJE by word of mouth. I was barely left with 4-5months towards Os but my math had improved to a B4 by Prelim 2. It was the first time I had felt hopeful for math. Before Os our school had let us try a TKSS math paper for mock exam and I got an A. The first A for math I had ever gotten in my whole entire life. I then went on to getting an A2 for my emath O levels. What I also really like about this tuition is the after class tests. I feel like the tests help me to review whatever I have learnt in the lesson and helps me to grasp the concept even better. We can also text wayne whenever we are stuck with a question. This is really not your typical tuition. At my previous tuition the teacher just rambled on and on because the boys were fast in grasping the concepts, while I lagged even further behind. At WJE, we are encouraged to speak up whenever we have doubts and his explanations is really clear and precise!! To improve our grades, Wayne also tells us that we need to have the right mindset, so after I finally believed that I could pass math, I went onto getting further than a pass. Math even became one of my favourite subjects towards O levels!! Finally I want to say, thank you Wayne for making me realise that math is actually quite simple and enjoyable!!! :)

Before joining WJE, I was being taught in another tuition centre which was not up to standards and I was not improving. My grade for amaths had never hit an A during sec 3. However, after I join WJE for just 1 year in my secondary 4 year, my grade for amaths will never fall below an A1. As for my O lvl grades, i got A1s for both E and A maths. I would say the strongest point about WJE is how the consistent practice allows my grades to be maintained. For example, at the beginning of the year, booklets for each specific topic would be issued and during the middle of the year, past exam papers (E and Amaths) from various schools will be given too. Despite it being an Amaths tuition, it felt like I had tuition for both maths equally. At WJE, it has a cozy atmosphere that is suitable for studying. The journey in WJE will be tough with homework pilling up but in the end, the results that you get will be worth the effort you put in. Attitude determines altitude!

I enjoyed learning physics and solving math problem sums since pri school. I did well for the sec 2 streaming year and hence, got into a double science class. Initially, my results were average and I thought that I was fine doing self-study. However, by the second semester, both my physics and amath results started to plunge. Thus, I joined a tuition centre, hoping that I would at least attained a pass for the end of year examination in sec 3. My results not only did not improve, in fact my score was 41.0(E8) for amath and 46.5/100(D7) for physics. I was really discouraged and not motivated to strive hard and suddenly felt that my love for the subjects were dying. Then in sec 4, once again i failed physics(F9), amath(F9) and now even emath(D7). That was when i realised i needed a lot of help from someone to help me build my foundation. I joined WJE in june and was only left with 5 months before the national exam. Regardless of my poor results, Wayne was extremely encouraging and optimistic that pushed me to work extra hard. I started to see improvements and gradually rekindled my love for the subjects. I managed to get A1 for emath, A2 for physics and B3 for amath for my Os. The thing that i really liked about WJE is that after every lesson, there would be a short test where we would be given a time limit. The test allowed me to see how much i have really understood and also the topics that i should brush up. Wayne also encourages us to ask questions in class and made sure that sure that our doubts are cleared. Whereas in my previous tuition centre, the teacher would conduct lessons very quickly without making sure that slower learners like me could comprehend the concepts. However at WJE, Wayne ensure that everyone is on the right track. Lessons are usually very enjoyable as Wayne would crack jokes and this helped to create a livelier atmosphere. Lastly, thank you Wayne for always believing in me i really appreciate the things you've done for me!! :)
