This may seem like your typical "zero to hero" testimonial but no, it’s more than that. Don’t wait for miracles to happen, make them. That’s my greatest take back after spending my Secondary 4 year learning from Wayne. By the end of Secondary 3, I was unmotivated and stressed out after a full year trying to keep my neck above water for A Maths and Physics yet I still flunked. My grades? F9s. Frankly, although I needed help, I was skeptical about getting tuition based on my past experiences. After hearing about a “miracle” tutor from a senior in a similar plight to mine and having no grades to lose further, I went for the trial lesson. "Attitude determines altitude” hung on the wall. The eduhouse was well decorated, adequately lit, regularly maintained and the atmosphere was both cosy and homely. Unlike previous tuition centres, I was immediately at ease. But don’t be deceived, Wayne does math at an uneasy pace. At first, I was lagged behind terribly which was the depressing thing about learning A Maths. Then did I discover that Wayne was more than just my tutor, he was my motivator and moreover, my friend. Under his watchful eye, we worked on my “homework” ethics. Before, I would get frustrated and give up after tumbling over a difficult question, hence I never enjoyed practices nor finished my homework. Wayne always emphasised on a positive outlook to our problems. It wasn’t long that Wayne’s infectious positivity and enthusiasm spread to me. I started to look at Maths and Physics in a different light. Practice after practice, question after question, I climbed grade after grade. Secondary 4 MYE, I passed all my subjects for the first time since Secondary 2. Don’t stop there! The final lap towards O levels no doubt was an intense and compact one. I realised that I began looking forward to Wayne’s classes. Bit by bit, I finished the syllabus, my prelims and then Wayne’s coveted Hunger Games! (WJE reference sorry). Finally, by the time it was O levels, I was numbed with practices. No doubt it was stressful but thankfully Math and Physics were no longer as tough as I once feared it to be. Finally, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I scored a decent B3 for Physics and A2 for both Maths! Although it isn’t your perfect A1s, I’m very satisfied with the improvement made both to my studies and my attitude :) Thank you Wayne!
